Vintage Crockett Spurs With Leather StrapsVintage crocktet spurs are highly collectible. I do not know the exact age of these beauties. They are very rusted, pitted and wron but you can still make out the remains of the crockett trademark stamp on each spur near the strap button. The letters cro are visible on one spur and ockett on hte other. It appears that someone drilled holes in both spurs further obscuring the trademarks. The spurs have copper overlays. One of the strap buttons is very bent. (see picture)embossed leather straps are in very good condiiton with minor wear. 8 point rowels are just shy of 1/2 in diameter and spin freely. Shank- 1 3/4. Heel- 3 1/4. Band- 3/8. Oscar crockett was born in 1887 in pecos, texas. He worked for c.
P. Shipley in kansas city, missouri until 1920 when be brought the bit and spur section of the business.
Oscar and his uncle, w. Brice opened the crockett bit and spur company there in kansas city. Later the business was moved to lenexa, kansas where it became one of the largest bit and spur makers in the country.
N 1943 oscar moved the business to boulder, colorado where he employed as many as 125 craftsmen at one time. Oscar crockett died in 1949. His widow sold the company to james renalde in 1951.
I don't know much more about these spurs but feel free to ask questions and i'll do my best to find the answers. Good luck & happy bidding!
